I think I have a new job.
I'm sitting in the library computer lab. Posting to my blog. I could learn to like this job. (Of course, the fact that it is in the moldy, dusty basement and there is a pulsing low-pitched mechanical sound vibrating through my skull the whole time is a drawback.)
I'm just sort of hanging out today to kind of get the hang of things. I hope to start officially next week. (I'll probably be working on Fridays and Saturdays.) I'm not exactly sure how to do that. This is a somewhat relaxed operation.
In order to make sure I could figure out how to use the scanner (hint: I could), I scanned a page of my Greek notes. Maybe I'll post it later, when I have access to uploading capabilities. That way the non-readers of my blog can marvel at my astonishing translation skills. Or something. It's mostly in English, the part that I copied.
Practically everyone else in here is working in BibleWorks. Oh, the joys of Greek. Probably I should be working in BibleWorks (which is only the coolest program ever). Funny how much work it is even with all the software, though.
My loom is about half set up for the confirmation prayer thing tomorrow. I measured out the yarn and I have sleyed the reed. I just need to thread the heddles and tie on tonight (or maybe later this afternoon, since I intend to be watching bad science fiction shows tonight). The warp is so short that the rest of it shouldn't be any trouble.
If you actually are reading this, what do you do that could be a form of prayer? For me, it's definitely weaving and knitting. There is something incredibly, amazingly spiritual about working with textiles for me. It helps me to find that quiet place where I can just let my mind go. Some people can do that by running or exercising—I've even heard of people who find solving equations to be a very prayerful activity. I figure everyone probably has something in their life that could work like that—if you don't have anything, I really recommend that you think about what it might be. It's incredibly refreshing and focusing. It doesn't have to be some great profound mystical experience. God works in little ways, too.
Oh, I cleaned the white board. Apparently either no one bothers to clean it or no one knew that you can write over the old stuff and then erase, and it comes out pretty clean in the end.
I'm going to have to start bringing my little mouse wrist pad down here. Erin, if you are reading this, the next time you mail me something stick my old maroon keyboard wrist rest in the box. It'll make great packaging material.

I have decided that I should probably post in my blog for Lent.
However, I will probably forget to actually to do it, so I'm not making it official. The weather has been ridiculously nice here. It's February. It's supposed to be the deepest, darkest, coldest, most gloomy depths of winter. It's not supposed to be sunny and warm. It's supposed to be thoroughly yucky. (It's supposed to rain and be "cold" tomorrow. All together now: "Oooooh...") I'm afraid I'm starting to like it.
Tonight, at the Lenten service, I filled in as crucifer at the last midnight. The cross is very large and heavy at my field church, and the doors are normal-sized doors. Thunk.
Early this week, I figured out how to watch one station on my television while recording on another. Paired with the fact that in January I got a better antenna, figured out how to get it to work, and am now receiving something like eight whole channels, this is not really a good thing. (I was really, really tired of Law and Order. I like CSI much better. Which is good, because it's on at least five times a week.)
Saturday is the super-mega confirmation thing (I think we're expecting around one hundred young people of confirmation age). I plan to haul my loom over for part of a section on prayer. Really. Of course, I need to finish off what's already on the loom and then warp it with something new.
Now, excuse me (I don't know why I persist in speaking as if someone were reading this, which obviously is not the case, probably due to the fact that I have stopped commenting on other people's blogs) while I do my Hebrew homework.
