I think we may be getting somewhere.
I've been pestering LBIS people - I think someone finally figured out that it's just going to take forever to wait for every single person to install anti-virus software, so they're going to give up and restore access to the people who've got it done like they're supposed to.

Not that I'm holding my breath.

Yesterday, Heather and I went around and stopped by every room that hadn't signed off yet on the first two floors. It helped, a little, but it'll still be a while because there were several of them who for various reasons couldn't get the stuff on their computers properly...seriously, now.

I took some little videos with my digital camera in the bell tower on Friday but I can't upload them yet, for reasons that should be obvious. :P

I have no class Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Well, okay, I have choir Wednesday night, and that's a class. My independent study (I think she called it "The Computer-Hardware Interface", in an effort to make it sound more like liberal arts) will probably involve meeting with the professor on Mondays. Oh, and I'm in senior lab, which is Tuesday-Thursday, six hours of class with at least fifteen hours outside of class on a weekly basis. ("Free time"...it's a nice myth.)

I've made several dolls, some of them really cool, and a new base, which is really cool, but you don't get to see any of them because gee, I can't upload anything.

I'm not bitter.

Oh, okay, so I am bitter. Very. I also have to do my homework for senior lab (the first lab starts Thursday, so that's when the insanity begins) from the physics building, because I can only access the program I need from those computers...I mean, I could access it from my own computer (I think - never tried it in XP), if I had internet access, that is...

Nope, not annoyed at all.

I finished all eight of Salli's Tamora Pierce books. Because I have nothing else to do. Well, okay, I could be unpacking/cleaning/decorating my room...hehe, that's funny.

I would be starting back at ezboard tomorrow...if I had internet access.

Rayne, I tried to post a comment in your blog about this, but I'm not sure if it went through. I uploaded the bitmap version (unfinished) of the doll I was working on for you before I left for school. I actually had it finished that day, but we all know about Sarah's lack of uploading ability by now. :P For your doll, the one where you're working on the hair, I would recommend having the hair cover bits of her face more - real hair is not that neat! (You pretty much have to either give her ears, or make it seem plausible that her ears are covered by her hair, in which case it would also overlap her face a little...) Also, dolls tend to have more hair on the tops of their heads than you would expect based on looking at your own head in the mirror! (Not that I ever use mirrors to check proportions, not at all...)

By special request...
...the lyrics to the Hippo Song! :)
"In the beginning, God made the sea
And the forest, filled with trees;
He made the mountains up so high,
And up above he made the sky;
His fingerprints are everywhere
Just to show how much he cares;
And in the end he had lots of fun:
He made a HIPPO that weighed a ton!
Hippo, hippopotamus,
Hip, hip, hooray—God made all of us!
Hippo, hippopotamus,
Hip, hip, hooray—God made all of us!"
I'm very tired and would like a nap, but instead I'm going to go to the church picnic and pack frantically and try very, very hard to keep breathing. (The dust I stir up while packing makes my nose run and my sinuses hurt.)

Oh, look, another one.
I said I'd entered a whole bunch of contests. :P This one is voting. (I really like that doll and I'm going to keep entering her in contests until she wins something. Hehe.)

I entered another contest.
Okay, so I entered a whole bunch of contests, but this one is voting. I'm pretty sure y'all will be able to tell which one is mine...I poked at one of my existing dolls and added a bit of animation just for fun. Trying to be fair, there's one that's got some really nice animation but I think my doll is at least one of the best. (Pick the one you think is best to vote for!)

Red dresses make me happy!

After a couple of Myra dolls (pants and boots), I felt like doing a pretty dress, and for some reason the dress in my head was red, so I ended up with Alisa, whom I have described already. (I'm not prepared to reveal much more without actually writing an actual story about her...) This is a much more satisfactory Alisa than the previous versions, partly because I've been trying for more realistic shades of blonde hair.

I said I was going to explain why all of my characters in this storyline seem to survive for excessively long periods of time. Did I ever get around to posting the Ylshaerei/ylrannei information I put together? I can't remember.

I feel like I should post something.
So I think I'll make some random lists.

    5 Things I Don't Like
  1. When Neopets posts all the news for the day after my bedtime.
  2. Not getting any comments when I post something I'm proud of in my blog. :P
  3. "I fixed it, no thanks to you. The date on my computer was wrong..."
  4. Not being able to find any finger nail clippers.
  5. Packing for school.
    5 Things I Do Like
  1. Seeing a link to one of my sites (on someone else's site). :)
  2. Leftover collard greens in the fridge!
  3. Dusting with the real stuff (spray and a dust rag).
  4. Getting to move into my dorm room a day early.
  5. Pretty starry red websites (gee...)

I'm working on a new WC character.
Just playing with costume design and such. All of the Serens have white-blonde hair, which is a royal pain on a doll because it's so very hard to see!
Still trying to get a grip on the hairstyle. Myra's line of work is too messy for traditional braids! The expression is far too cutesy for Myra.Myra Seren (it's "meera") has been in the back of my mind for a while. I designed her months and months ago when I was working on Elly's family and she just sort of quietly did her thing in the background. I like her because she is easy-going and well-adjusted and never causes me any trouble. ;)

Myra is two years younger than Elly, but they graduated from high school together since Myra has a habit of testing out of things rather quickly. She proceeded to pick up a few degrees in engineering (you should really call her "Dr. Seren") by the time she was twenty, at which point she went home. Aside from her duties as a mining engineer (which take her, oh, maybe three hours a day to complete), she flies with the volunteer defense squad. The ancient starfighters they use are scarcely recognizeable these days, operating at better than the original specs, since Myra also seems to have a degree in starship engineering.

Myra could easily be a top engineer or designer for almost any company, but she chooses to stay at home and remain relatively unknown. (She does tend to pick up extra degrees and certifications (remotely, of course) in her spare time, since there isn't much left to challenge her otherwise.) What I like about Myra is that she isn't obnoxious and would never put herself forward; most people have no idea how smart she is (Myra doesn't really care). She's not self-conscious about it, she just doesn't think it's a particularly big deal and will most often shrug in response to any commentary. The other pilots have taken to calling her "Miracle Myra" (if you saw some of the pieces of junk they fly, you would understand), but she'll never tell you that.

So I'm back.
If you love me, you will leave comments expressing your enthusiasm. (I feel unloved when I don't get any comments.)

'In the beginning God made the sea...' I have a new dolling project that has to do with the fact that I now have a digital camera. I intend to do a series of camp counselor dolls doing the motions to the Hippo Song. :) I did the prep work yesterday, which involved propping my camera up on my dresser and photographing myself in my swim suit. That is probably why I decided to make the first one "Sarah on Water Day"—singing the Hippo Song is one of those things I sometimes make the kids do to get warm if it's a chilly Friday. Hehe.

I hate my water shoes. They stink (literally). I think I might just throw them away...

The base comes in regular skin tones and also an extra bonus that I refer to as "camp counselor tan", with lines for shorts, t-shirt, and socks. Hehe.

I need to play catch-up just about everywhere, on top of getting ready to go back to school and of course doing little things like getting my schedule worked out. :P (Yay, it's fun being a sen...AAAAAHH! That's really scary.)

I am wearing a dress.
And make-up. And heels. (And my ears hurt.)

It's about time for the staff banquet, and I'm bored of standing around so I decided to get on the computer. It's kind of fun to get to dress up a little, but it's been a rough weekend staff-wise and that kind of puts a damper on the festivities. And also my ears hurt, which does not help, and if I have to drive I'll be doing it in heels. :P

"All other browsers will be automatically redirected to the LoFi interface."
I hate the "LoFi interface". Everything is glaringly big!!! I am so tempted to upgrade these lab computers to IE6 just so I can get my normal blogger back! >:0

The little Google ad bar at the top of the page is supposed to match links to content. It now includes links to places where I could buy an RV. Another brilliant example of why matching advertising to the supposed content of a page just can't be automated...

I would dearly love to have a day off. Just one day. I'm pretty sure it's in my contract that I'm supposed to get twenty-four hours, but pretty much the only way I can get that is by resupplying on Friday which isn't really a possiblity when I get back after eight o'clock on Friday night! I love doing Amazing Grace and I wouldn't be doing anything else, but I wish folks would spare a little bit more consideration for the fact that I have been doing this all summer and I am very tired. I have to do my staff page and two end-of-year evaluations by Tuesday (okay, so watch that last one not happen until Friday) which pretty much means I am doing them all Monday night; I also have to call the church in Martins Ferry on Monday because my staff (I really don't know who is to blame) left my crockpot and the enormous Amazing Grace sign behind. (The thing is gargantuan. How could anyone miss it?)

Just once, I'd like to have staff help me resupply so that they could know how much trouble they make for me when they pack! It really irritates me that this year TCs have to resupply on our own—the rest of the staff doesn't take any ownership of the supplies for their team because they have nothing to do with obtaining them, so they feel little reason to conserve. Arggghhh!

I was really having a very good weekend until I had to resupply. :P

I finally got started on the fifth Harry Potter book but I'm tempted to chuck it in the back seat of the car and leave it because the thing is ridiculously big and so terribly gloomy—I already have a sense of impending doom, thank-you-very-much, I don't need to borrow anyone else's!
