In case you didn't see it on my site...
This is what I was working on last weekend:![]()
All on custom bases, yay! I am really very pleased with them, particularly with Tris. :) (The girls all have outfits right out of the fourth book.)
I would be delighted to write about my scary test tomorrow and the accompanying angst, but I really need to go grab this one chance to try to snag some recordings of the bells on my laptop. I don't know if I can actually get anything of decent enough quality to be functional this way, but it's worth a try. I hope to at least be able to get enough data to work with in the meantime!

I need a nap, I really do...
...but Salli won't let me go back to my room. (I'm not quite sure why it is okay for me to go to the computer lab, though. I think I managed to trick her. ;)
We have a choir thing and it's an hour away and we're catching a ride, so we have to be back at church at 1ish, which really doesn't give us time for much of anything. I've got all of my physics stuff (well, okay, maybe a third of it—as much as one can conveniently carry) in my bag in the car and I intend to study en route and between rehearsals. (Always provided that this is not one of those days when not even Dramamine helps.)
As if it were not enough that they get to keep me for three days, the folks I'm doing psychological testing with have decreed that I must complete several prelimary tests and get them there by March first, which means I have to go to church after class on Wednesday. (I HATE personality tests. There's never a "yes, but just to be contrary" option.) Because, of course, I have so much extra time for that sort of thing this week.
I am working on the cutest set of little dolls, but you can't see them until I finish the fourth one, which is giving me fits. (I think I shall have to start over from scratch, to be honest.)

Instead of working on my programming project...
...I made this doll. Doing the base was not much of a problem, but then it was necessary to try it out, and I just couldn't stop myself. It is, in fact, a very simple dress for an Irish dancer (and completely unauthentic, I'm sure - the basic thing is pretty good but the designs are out of my head), since usually they have ridiculously complicated (and sometimes painfully flamboyant) patterns.
I told Rayne I'd work on an Irish dancer base a long time ago, and here it is. ;) (There may eventually be a larger version, but I'm pretty sure that would necessitate me doing a much larger and more detailed dress, so I'm holding off on that one for the time being.)
I should really be taking care of my last application, doing my programming project, and/or studying physics.

I should really be studying physics.
I have got to make a blinkie that says that!

Can this week please be over?
So, I had an important interview and PMS on Tuesday; I've got two weeks until the big test of DOOM;, I alternate between waking up with a sore throat, near-exploding sinuses, and being unable to breathe; I'm not going to tell the story about the parking lot again; Salli is going to try to drag us to the senior formal thing tonight; I almost lost my hat and my coffee mug at the dining hall at lunch; nobody commented on my "Aeylari medieval" doll; and it's Friday the 13th.
I don't think it would be unduly pessimistic of me to say that this has been a very bad week.
On the positive side...uhm...I'm wearing my stripy socks?

Six pages!
It took me one afternoon to write the blasted thing, and a whole week to crop it down to only six pages. :P
We had a really, really good time yesterday. (Actually, I think we had more fun getting ready than we did at the actual event.) "Phling" (argh, painful spelling mutilation) is more or less our equivalent of prom, only less serious and more drunken. I was going to borrow one of Salli's dance dresses (I forgot to bring anything formal from home), but then I remembered the lovely white peasant-style skirt from that wedding last fall. It more or less went from there. (The best, though, was the single braid I convinced Heather to do for me. We left it falling down the outside of the red headband-scarf-thing, and it was very cool. (I also enjoyed wearing practically every piece of jewelry I owned.)
As the night progressed, we developed a story to go with the costumes: Heather and I were pirates (of course), and Salli was our hostage. I think what happened was that our captain sent us because it was a ghost ship and we were the only solid people on it. We clearly were rather inept pirates, since we had someone managed to end up in a mostly land-locked state. Anyway, it was supposed to be one of those stories where it turned out at the very end that Salli and I were long-lost twin sisters, which of course simply astonishes everyone. ;) (Actually, at some point we decided that we were probably just the comic relief, anyway.)
I have a French paper due tomorrow and an interview on Tuesday.

I wrote a draft.
It is too long.
