I GOT A ROOM!!!
And it's just down the hall, so I don't even have to move upstairs! Furthermore, it's on the other side of the building, so I won't have the sun waking me up at the crack of dawn every morning.
Unfortunately, I'm discovering that if I take my PMS meds at 7:30, they wear off by mid-afternoon, so I'm depressed. Finances are NOT helping. (How the heck do people do this, anyway?)

So far, no one here knows I'm a twin.
Can I make it another day without anyone finding out?
So far, I know six people. (Which is basically everyone who's living in the dorm so far.) My plans to find someone who needs a roommate have not been successful.

Well, I'm here.
And I have internet access, and it's really fast. Possibly it will get slower when there are more people on campus. There are only six of us in the single-student dorm that I know of so far.
My room is so lovely I could just scream. :P This is ridiculous - there is absolutely no reason why they could not have assigned two people to this room! Now, of course, it's too late to change assignments. I've found a couple of other soon-to-be homeless students, but they're both guys, so nothing doing.
I went around and invited everyone I could find to evening prayer at 10:00. We'll see how that goes. I haven't done it in ages. I don't want to be trying to look good, but I really want to get into good habits while it's early, now that I have very little else to do. There's worship in the mornings before Greek classes, but I really have difficulty focusing my thoughts on anything, much less God, at 8:30 in the morning.
I'm looking up passages on various websites to study for the Bible exam tomorrow. Pray for a miracle.
If you have a phone number and you live nearby (you know who you are) and you want me to have your phone number, send me an email. I know Salli and I had some stuff, and she's going to see if she can find anything, but I just got a new cell phone and it's got nothing.

Packing.
I had just finished lugging a bookbag full of (*gasp*) books out into the hall, when I looked at my shelf and saw This Rough Magic sitting there. Which means that I packed Shadow of the Lion (or whatever it's called) instead. At the very bottom of the bag.
That's when I decided to quit.
We are leaving on Wednesday. I have no earthly idea when we will get there on Thursday. I don't know how early we are leaving Wednesday night - I am hoping that we will spend the night somewhere in between because I don't want to drive all the way to Columbia on Wednesday. It takes almost ten hours.
Pray that my mother will decide to come with me. If she doesn't, I have to drive all ten hours myself, which will be grueling and also really slow, because I can't drive more than two or three hours in a row without a break.
I hate packing.
I have to take this Bible test on Saturday. It seems like a bad idea to me. I have a degree in physics. I know about physics. I can solve the particle-in-a-box problem on the blackboard for you if you like. I don't know which Psalm such-and-such verse is from, and my lack of such knowledge does not concern me. (It's all "oh, right, I know that, I just don't remember it or else "I can't read your mind, why don't you tell me which aspect you think is most significant?" stuff on the study guide.) I'm going to study, assuming that my mother comes with me and we can study in the car on the way down. And then I'm going to take the test, and if I fail, I shall console myself by deriving formulas from the thermodynamic identity. And also I'm going to write Schroedinger's equation in my Greek notes.
I'm going to go downstairs and soak me feet in the foot-massage thing. (My vocabulary is plummeting.) And possibly record Stargate episodes for Salli, but if I don't, it's because I found something better on, and it's not my fault.
I got the soundtrack to the musical Wicked because I heard one of the songs during the Tony awards and I liked it, mostly because it was a physics song. (Not really, but I swear it's about gravity.) You should check it out - it's a lot better than it sounds. (Although you really can't tell what the heck is going on from the soundtrack.) I made this doll (okay, two dolls), probably to enter in a contest.
I don't think they really use wands, but they should. They really should. Magic wands are cool.

So, I was organizing my books.
For the second time this year. I repeat, the second major overhaul of my bookshelves this year. I'm running out of space. (Actually, I think I officially ran out of space a couple of years ago.)
Part of this includes tracking down books from throughout my cluttered room and attempting to retrieve those that have been "borrowed". (I put it in quotes because I'm not sure if it counts as borrowing if my permission was never asked. I swear, I have no idea how my copy of Pawn of Prophecy ended up on my little brother's shelf. I had his copy. Makes no sense.)
All of which reminded me that it's going to be less convenient in the near future to retrieve books whenever I go home. So.
I checked out the library in Columbia. It looks really fabulous. Yay!![]()

Twins are an oppressed minority.
Salli just reminded me.
We're made fun of routinely in jokes and in popular culture. (Quick, name three bad twin movies off the top of your head!) And it's considered perfectly socially acceptable. You can make fun of twins with impunity. We're so oppressed, we don't even have twin rights advocacy groups!
Also, we're expected to subjugate our own unique cultural identity to adhere to the norms of a society that shows little consideration for the values of our own heritage.
Darn it, I ran out of big words. Did that last sentence make sense? I have to brush it up so I can use it to protest that any unfair treatment of me is "twin discrimination". ;)

When on Earth did everyone and their cousin get a LiveJournal?
And why did nobody tell me??????
Uhm, I have Gmail. But I don't use it, and I forget my address. And I just signed up like three days ago.

For the next five minutes, I am not longer a slacker.
I updated my imood for the first time in (exactly) six months. Oh, yikes. Six months. I guess I'm still a slacker.

I am the queen of all slackers!
Well, actually I did some laundry, finished a book, and did some serious ez-housekeeping today, not to mention driving my little brother to his guitar lesson and going with my dad to see my new car. But I'm still a slacker. I just am. Permanently, I think.
I really haven't gotten out of slacker mode since I've graduated, which is kind of bad, considering the fact that I start summer Greek in a litle over two weeks. I figure, by then I will have woken up enough to unpack so that I can repack everything to drive down to South Carolina. (Uhm, I don't suppose there's anyone down there who will want to help me move in? No, strike that, save it for when I have to move out of the dorms at the end of summer. And please keep praying that I find housing...)
I thought of something a couple of weeks ago and was too much of a slacker to post it. If I have a car and an appartment and live in South Carolina, then of course I will be very lonely and alone, all by myself, and it will be absolutely necessary for everyone I know who lives south of Virginia to come and visit me. You can have the bed and I'll take the couch. Assuming that it comes furnished, and that it has a couch.
I have been in to my mother's class three times, twice to help and once because she left her watch at home and I needed to bring it to her. I need to clean my laptop screen but have not done so because I have yet to figure out how. I even got roped into driving over to Grove City last week to help with training for a day (and I helped with dinner, too). My father keeps taking me out to eat, but I have yet to persuade him to see a single blasted movie.
Kat was here last week, which is old news, except that really nothing exciting has happened since. I mostly just sit her on my computer, take naps, and scrounge for food. (I have no idea why there's never any snack food or lunch food around the house anymore. Tomorrow I might have to actually cook something for lunch, which is just wrong.)
Oh, and out of 109 neopets plushies in happy meals, I got a red quiggle, which was the only one that I wanted. The chances of that happening are less than one percent.
Tomorrow I need to call the seminary and see if they got my FAFSA stuff yet. (They really, really should have.) Uhm...I don't suppose anyone would like to do that for me? I don't think they can understand me on the phone. I think I talk to fast for them. (This is going to be a problem, I can just tell. The entire state of South Carolina is just going to have to start talking faster, there's no avoiding it.)
